These are legacy reasoning papers, not past TARA sittings. This library covers Section 1; it does not include BMAT science or writing sections or TSA essays.

These papers are PDFs, with no interactive exam simulator. You will need to time yourself and mark your answers using the answer key. Their timings and question counts differ from the current TARA, so follow the instructions printed on each paper rather than using TARA module timings.

Choose TSA or BMAT and enter the number of correct answers. TSA uses 50 questions. For BMAT, choose the paper length: 32 for 2020–2023, 35 for 2004–2019 or 40 for 2003. Counts have been checked against the papers.

Choose the matching BMAT paper length in the calculator after marking your work. The changing number of questions makes comparing raw totals across years misleading.

How the score estimate works

The calculator reuses TaraPrep's existing score model. It first converts your accuracy into an equivalent mark out of 22. For example, 30/50 becomes 13.2/22. It then interpolates within our provisional raw-mark reference model and maps the resulting model percentile onto the selected published TARA score distribution.

Selecting Critical Thinking or Problem Solving chooses the reference distribution used for the comparison. A combined paper mark cannot reveal how many questions you answered correctly in either individual skill, so the result is not a separate module score.

The conversion assumes equal accuracy is comparable across papers. It does not correct for difficulty, timing, question mix or changes to the older tests. Use the estimate to put practice accuracy on a familiar scale, rather than as an official historical score or a prediction of your TARA result.

What to do after marking a paper

Review correct guesses as well as wrong answers. For each, identify whether you misread the task, chose an unsuitable method, made an arithmetic error or ran out of time. Then practise the relevant skill using our Critical Thinking examples or Problem Solving worked questions.

Keep the paper name and year in your error log. Retaking a familiar paper can help you check your method, but remembered answers can inflate the mark. Move to unseen material before judging progress.
